Environmental certification of Borås Djurpark & Camping AB

Borås Djurpark & Camping AB endeavours to be a forerunner in environmental initiatives and works for sustainable development. As part of this work, Borås Djurpark & Camping AB became one of the first environmentally certified zoos already in 2013. Borås Camping, which is part of the company, is also environmentally certified. Environmental certification is adapted to the national Swedish Environmental Base system and fulfils its requirements.This Swedish Environmental Base is a national environmental management standard.

At Borås Camping, we work with environmental matters continuously. This pertains to everything from the cleaning supplies we use to waste sorting and information for guests. All money received for recycled bottles and cans in the restaurant and bins is donated to preservation initiatives for endangered species. We plant blossoming plants and bushes to enrich the diversity of animals and insects. We have permitted some green areas to grow into meadows in order to benefit our insects.

In 2022, we are building two environmental buildings on our campgrounds so that as our guest, you can also sort waste here with us.

There are good bus and train connections within walking distance from the campgrounds. We are happy to provide more information if you would like to leave your car at home. Information about how to use public transport to reach us is also available on our website under the “Good to know” tab.

We are pleased and proud to be located beside a 550-hectare nature reserve with many hiking trails. We offer several packages with accommodation and hiking, canoeing and outdoor cooking. We also have ideas for ways to experience nature on our website and in our social media feeds.

At the campgrounds, we have created an Adventure Area to ensure that guests can stay multiple nights and always have something to do. Much of the Adventure Area is also open during the low season, including winter paddling, mini golf, the disc golf course and more. Just 400 m from the campgrounds are the Borås Zoo, Leo’s Lekland, several sports facilities, and the Knalleland shopping centre. There is plenty to do here for the whole family and all ages.

Our campgrounds, cabins, hostel, restaurant and conference facility are open year-round.
